Why do dialogs differ depending on the number of objects selected? (Information) |
www.CAD6.com |
If, depending on your selection, either one individual object or multiple objects are to be edited, the dialog used for this differs only slightly in terms of appearance, but clearly in terms of function:
Only one object was chosen:The variant for editing a single object is displayed. The type of selected object and some additional information about it are displayed in the dialog title.
Example for the "Frame Text" Dialog:
Additional check boxes at the edge are not visible.
The initial assignment of the window is exactly the current state of the selected object, which can be changed directly.
In the "Edit Properties" Dialog, the right check boxes for transmission have only two states. If the selected object is not an instance, the right check boxes are labeled "Fix" instead of "Transmit". The basic function remains the same.
Multiple objects and/or groups were chosen:The variant for editing several objects at once is displayed. The number of selected objects is displayed in the dialog title.
Examples for the "Frame Text" Dialog:
Additional check boxes are displayed on the left and partly also on the right edge of the dialog window, with which it can be determined for each individual property in the dialog whether this should be applied to all selected objects (as far as technically sensible) or not.
The initial assignment of this window directly only shows those properties that are the same for all selected objects.
All other characteristics (which vary across the selected objects) are displayed blank or with an appropriate note.
If you change a property, the corresponding check box will automatically be checked so that only that property will be applied to all objects once you leave the dialog by clicking "OK".
In the "Edit Properties" Dialog, the check boxes on the right-hand side of the dialog, which are used to change the status of transmission, now have three states: •If such a check box shows a checkmark, the corresponding transmission is activated in all selected objects. •Removing the tick deactivates the corresponding transmission in all selected objects. •If the check box shows a dash (for "indeterminate"), the corresponding setting varies across the selected objects and will not be changed.
For further details about transmission, please refer to Layers, Pens, and Transmission.
