Move Set of Points > Single Point (Modify Menu)

www.CAD6.com

This command can be used to move an individual definition point. Using this function objects which can not be manipulated with the "normal" manipulation commands can be manipulated.

To make the definition points more recognizable, you should turn their display on. This can be done with the Miscellaneous > Display Point Markings or by pressing the '.' key (unless you changed the key assignment).

If several definition points are to be moved at once (e.g. to stretch an object) this can be done more easily by means of the command Move Set of Points > Offset.

1.Pick point

The definition point to be moved can be picked with the mouse, by clicking near it. If the definition points of one or more objects lie at exactly the same position, they are all moved by the same amount.

A definition point in a Construction Aid endless line or beam can only be chosen if both check boxes "Point markings" and "Also for Construction Aid" in the "Additional Information" area of the "Screen Settings" dialog are active. Otherwise, it will be ignored.

2.Enter target point

The new position for the selected definition point can be entered using the mouse, by clicking anywhere in the drawing.

When selecting points within Bézier curves, additional logic takes effect unless the SHIFT key is held down:

If a pivot is clicked, a second pivot that is on the other side of the associated endpoint (if any) is also selected. Moving the selected pivot point is transferred rotationally symmetrically to the other pivot point. In this way, smooth connections between two Bézier curves remain smooth and sharp connections remain sharp.

If an end point is clicked, both adjacent pivot points (if any) are selected and moved as well. In this way, the orientation of both adjacent curves remains unchanged.

The possibilities which can result from moving individual definition points are varied. The consequences are equally various and can be unexpected. Many definition points have a close relationship to other definition points and can only be moved in certain ways. Under some circumstances, some definition points can not be moved because of object parameter settings. Be sparing in the use of moving individual definition points.

Some frequently required operations can be carried out without risk using this command:

Moving end and corner points of lines, polylines and polygons (see graphic).

Altering the half-axes of ellipses or ellipse parts and moving the start or end angle of circle or ellipse parts (see graphic).

Moving the frame corner points of multi-line texts (see graphic).

Many of these operations can also be carried out with commands from the Modify Menu and the Trim Menu. In some cases it may however be quicker and easier to move one or more individual definition points.
